Fitzlife Unfiltered with Kim & Jamie Fitzpatrick
Kim and Jamie Fitzpatrick are partners in every sense of the word, both in life and business. Former employees turned online entrepreneurs, they are a married couple of two awesome little humans; Colby is 12 and Tessa is 9, and they live in Burlington, Ontario, Canada with their rescue dog Clemmy. They have together, and individually, built multiple 7 figure businesses, both traditional brick and mortar as well as online enterprises in Direct Sales, Online Retail, and life & business coaching. Nothing is off limits in this podcast as they share triumphs and struggles, both personally and professionally, and really hope to help others relate to the trials and tribulations that this crazy life offers. Love, marriage, kids, sex, business, abundance, and inspiration are routinely covered in the hopes that we can provide value to your life and maybe even the courage to chase some of those dreams that have been put on hold for far too long. Please always check the episode notes for contact info and resources related to the topic. Thank you for listening, it is so appreciated! Enjoy!

Episode #142 - NLP, Hustle, Tugboats and Lighthouses
In this episode we dive deep into the power of subconscious beliefs, parts integration (a tool from NLP), and the ongoing work of aligning business, family, and personal identity. We explore how competing beliefs (like hustle vs. harmony) can be integrated to create internal peace and clarity. Kim shares a powerful exercise where she names her two conflicting parts: Carol (light, joy) and Ursula (sacrifice, hustle), and learns to blend them, not fight them.
The conversation then shifts into legacy, asking: What does it mean to live in alignment in your business, body, and relationships? We both reflect on personal growth, parenting, over-scheduling, and creating space for what matters. We emphasize that hustle isn't bad when it's intentional and joyful, but that saying yes to everything often stems from past trauma or identity patterns.
I also share an interesting analogy I hear about a tugboat vs. a lighthouse, as they are each there to help boats, but both do it in very different ways. We discuss two styles of leadership and support, hands-on vs. steady presence, and how knowing when to be each is key to sustainable living. The takeaway: there’s no right or wrong way to lead or grow, but self-awareness is crucial.
We close this episode by encouraging all of you to evaluate your own lives with reflection questions:
- Are you in alignment with who you're becoming?
- Are your choices supporting your legacy?
- Where are you out of sync, and how can you come back home?
We loved filming this episode and I believe the tone is honest, vulnerable, and full of real-life tension between ambition and presence, and is especially relevant for entrepreneurs balancing family, purpose, and success.
As always, thanks for listening!
